Video games, along with music and (unfortunately) maths, have been part of my life since my early childhood. I remember not really liking math when my father, a mathematician, was trying to introduce me to the subject and I also recall not having really good taste in music according to my sister. But I do remember enjoying my Game Boy in every place I could, daydreaming non-stop about crafting my own virtual worlds.
I spent a lot of time gaming during my teenager years, but Half-Life was the game that really showed me the potential of the medium. It probably had a lot to do with me becoming a physicist, like Gordon Freeman itself. I was really happy when I finally completed and published my master thesis in the Alba Synchrotron (Cerdanyola del Vallés), a facility that reminds me a lot to Black Mesa. It did not take me a lot to realize that designing video games was my passion and that I wanted to spend my time giving life to those worlds I always had dream with. |
